Cambridge Engineered Solutions has bolstered its Cam-Grid line of metal belts for spiral cage systems with a tight-radius belt.

The Heavy Duty Tight Radius Cam-Grid reportedly as a tight turning radius and a 113.4-kg tangential tension rating, letting food processing firms to increase product flow through their spiral systems.

Heavy metal

Angela Visintainer of Cambridge Engineered Solutions told FoodProductionDaily.com that the new Cam-Grid is a good fit for processors making heavy products.

This belt is ideal for spiral freezers for products like ice cream or packaged meat products; another example would be for proofing raw dough in bakeries,” she said. “The greater strength allows food processors to pack product more tightly onto the belt, thus increasing product throughput.”

Visintainer added that the belt’s rugged metal construction gives it an edge over plastic and other materials in several ways. It provides better airflow around  product (good for cooling, freezing and proofing), and is easier to clean, she said.

Efficient equipment

Crystal Willey, director of sales for Cambridge Engineered Solutions, said the tight-radius belt helps increase efficiency, without taking up more room.

“It lets our customers really maximize their floor space and achieve their throughput goals,” she said.

Visintainer reported that before market, the belts go through rigorous testing. In addition to running the belts in the Cambridge Engineered facility, they field-test the belts in actual working conditions.
