Norwegian company AKVAsmart has launched a new centralised feed system for seafood farmers. Called CCS, the company claims the system is set to revolutionise the sector.

The new system is the result of two years of intense "behind the scenes" R&D of a new generation feed system that the company claims will carry the fish farming industry into the future.

"This is a completely new generation feed system and we are proud to finally hit the market with this new concept" says AKVAsmart's marketing manager, Trond Severinsen. He added: "Our major goals during this development have been to incorporate all our extensive and documented feed care knowledge while at the same time meeting present and future feeding performance requirements".

The CCS system has a new "reverse engineered" and user-friendly software, added technical dependability and a flexible CCS Network design platform that is said to allow for optimum scalability to suit any size fish farm.

"We can back every single design feature with solid research from our full scale testing facility here in Norway. This has resulted in our new 'Feed Care Certification' of all new CCS systems and components," Severinsen concluded.

"We set our sights very high when we planned our development strategy," said Knut Molaug, AKVAsmart CEO.

"The goal was not just to make the best feed system on the market, but to exceed what our customers expected in a new feed system from us," said Molaug.

The system incorporates a new software called AkvaControl CCS, which is largely based on graphical displays and is compatible with a wide range of feed- and environmental sensors. A totally new wireless or hardwired camera control system is also part of the new software.

Giving it flexibility, the system is built on a new technical platform called "CCS Network" that is said to make it very easy to scale and expand. This also means that it can be linked to an existing computer network, much the same way as adding a printer or scanner.
