Weigh and collect tech a valuable prospect

A computer-integrated weighing system will allow food packagers to
weigh products and automatically collect data, its manufacturers
claim.

The Reflex HP Series, designed by Avery Weigh-Tronix, is designed to cut losses in manual weighing operations and to reduce the time it takes to calibrate itself.

Its manufacturers claim that the system will increase quality assured traceability by automatically logging calibrations by date, time, serial and model number into a computer database.

The scaling system includes built-in software that allows for data to be input directly into a computer equipped with Microsoft Excel, Access or Lotus 1-2-3 programs. The software also warns against scale overloading - a main culprit in material waste during weighing processes.

Avery Weigh-Tronix says its system can automatically calibrate itself to adjust to slight changes in ambient temperature. The time of calibration can be set so as not to interfere with processing timelines.

The manual-portion weighing system is targeted towards check weighing, animal weighing, and below-balance weighing in the food and beverage industry, say its manufacturers.

The weighing system comes in eight different models that can handle loads between 220 to 8200 grams. The company claims the accuracy of its product is within 0.01 grams.

Avery Weigh-Tronix creates weighing equipment for industrial food production worldwide. It was announced last week that European Capital Financial Services has invested €122.2m in the company in a One Stop buyout.
