De Jong Packaging plans to install solar panels on a surface area of 16,500m² on the roof of one of its production halls in June.

The company in De Lier, the Netherlands, employs 250 people and manufactures corrugated board packaging, producing 300 million packaging units a year.

The company supplies corrugated board and solid board packaging units to more than 1,000 companies in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Poland and England.

The solar panels will generate 1.2 million kilowatt hours in renewable energy (an amount that equals the total annual energy consumption of 360 households) as part of the company’s efforts towards sustainability.
