Dr Karen Middleton-Gell has taken on the role of technical director at the Society of Food Hygiene and Technology (SOFHT).
Middleton-Gell, who is processed food sector specialist at Diversey Sealed Air, will be responsible for the new Legislation Forums and the technical helpline available to SOFHT members.
Her role will be to support other SOFHT directors on technical advice to help share best practice across the food chain via the training, information and guidance available to the society’s members.
She has worked as a technical projects manager in the food hygiene department at Campden BRI and for Diversey Sealed Air, is responsible for supporting the technical needs of the company’s processed foods customers and retailers to ensure that the highest level of hygiene is implemented on-site.
Middleton-Gell said: “Working with food manufacturers on a daily basis, I see first-hand the importance of the support and advice on hygiene good practice offered by SOFHT."
