Combi Packaging Systems has come out with a line of case sealers designed for sanitary packaging of various food items.

The new line of case sealers, with stainless-steel components, features semi-automatic and automatic top and bottom case sealing units.

All of the equipment in the line is intended to give food companies and their packaging partners a sanitary way to package meat, poultry, ready-to-eat edibles and other items.

Cooperative development

According to Bill Mitchell, director of engineering for Combi Packaging Systems, the company worked closely with food firms in order to come up with effective case-sealing solutions.

“After consulting with a number of people in the food processing industry, Combi is excited to introduce a truly sanitary designed case sealer that reduces and virtually eliminates potential lodgment areas where undesirable bacteria might gather,” he said.

The TBS-100SA and TBS-100FC sanitary top and bottom case sealers, in addition to offering stainless-steel components throughout, reportedly offer a number of sanitary design features, including accessible construction and easy-to-clean parts.

Additionally, the equipment is said to include hygienic maintenance enclosures and surfaces designed to shed water.

Operational advantages

The case sealers reportedly offer improvements over other sealers in a number of ways.

The units have no hollow areas or penetrating rivets, which would enable contaminants and debris to gather.

Further adding to the sealers’ sanitary conditions: the control panels and interfaces are sloped or pitched, and the surfaces are easy to clean.
