Cereplast signs bio-resin distribution deal in Croatia

Cereplast said it has signed a distribution agreement in Croatia as demand for bio-based resins in Europe continues to go from strength to strength.

The US-based company announced it has inked an exclusive distribution deal for 100 tons of per month for one year with DMT Plasticolor to supply its food grade bio-resins in the country.

“This agreement is the fourth contract that Cereplast has entered in to in 2011 and reflects a continuing surge in demand for bioplastic resin across the pan-European marketplace,”​ said a Cereplast statement.

Under the terms of the agreement, DMT Plasticolor will distribute bio-resins to product and package manufacturers in Croatia.

The Croatian firm will use Cereplast Compostable 3000 film grade to produce bioplastic films for food packaging. This is a proprietary patented formulation, which includes Ingeo PLA and a copolyester from BASF, said Cereplast.
