Pactiv Corporation, a leader in the food service packaging industry, has been acquired for $6bn by Reynolds Group, the food packaging subsidiary of New Zealand-based Rank Group.

Pactiv, the global packaging provider, has bought up the plastic
packaging assets of Rock-Tenn Company in the US. The move is part
of the company's aim to expand its APET packaging capabilities.
Pactiv Corporation is to purchase 70 per cent of Mexico-based
Jaguar, a leading thermoformer of high impact polystyrene for cold
cups and plates and polystyrene foam for foodservice and food
packaging.
Standard & Poor's, the credit ratings agency, has announced
that it has raised its corporate credit rating on Lake Forest,
Ill.-based Pactiv to triple-'B' from triple-'B'-minus.
