UK’s largest plant bakery manufacturers throw weight behind FDF

The FoB represents eight of the UK’s largest plant bakery manufacturing companies in a sector worth over £3.9bn.

Raising the positive benefits of bread – which has received a bad rap in recent years – particularly in light of its essential role in keeping much of the world’s population from the door of starvation is an increasingly important theme and the two organisations will work closely on supporting the sector.

The FDF has a strong representation from the bakery and snack sectors among its 20+ membership, including the Craft Bakers Association and The Nut and Dried Fruit Association.

“We have worked closely on a number issues alongside the Federation of Bakers team and Board over the years,”​ said Nicki Hunt, FDF’s director of Membership & Commercial Engagement.

“It has been a testing few years for food and drink manufacturers and industry collaboration has never been more important. Recruitment of individual member companies and associations into the FDF is stronger than it has ever been.”​

Mike Roberts, chairman of the FOB, added, “Plant bakery is a strong sector but like others has faced many challenges. Through our membership of the Food and Drink Federation, we look forward to further strengthening our representation of the industry, our services to members and our commitment to providing high quality, innovative products to consumers.”​
