United Biscuits owner Pladis signed a preferred supplier agreement with Bosch Packaging Technology at Interpack 2017.

This has formally cemented the two companies’ future cooperation in areas ranging from processing and automation technology to packaging machines and systems for primary and secondary packaging.

Bosch Packaging Technology has already installed several automated packaging solutions for the McVitie’s maker to help it achieve a high degree of flexibility in its packaging processes.

Based in Waiblingen in Germany, the division of Bosch Group employs more than 6,300 people and develops packaging solutions for the food, confectionery and pharmaceutical fields.

Internet of Things

The Bosch Group is a leading IoT company that comprises Robert Bosch GmbH and 440 subsidiaries and regional companies in 60 countries.

The €73.1bn ($82bn) German company uses its expertise in sensor technology, software, and services, as well as its own IoT cloud, to offer its customers connected, cross-domain solutions from a single source.

Signing at Interpack

The official signing ceremony between Bosch Packaging Technology and Pladis took place during Interpack 2017, held in Dusseldorf, Germany, at the beginning of the month.

According to Dr Stefan König, president of Bosch Packaging Technology, the association with Pladis is an example of the company’s approach.

He said the easy-to-adapt packaging solutions can grow with its customer’s needs, assisting customers like Pladis to steadily expand business regardless of their geographical location.

Ali Ülker, vice chairman of Pladis, confirmed the £2.2bn ($2.8bn) biscuit and confectionery producer has “significant growth ambitions” and is confident of Bosch’s support.
