BakeryandSnacks presents a live stream of our panel discussion on product recall management from ProSweets in Cologne.

The event begins on Tuesday January 31, at 10.30am to 12pm CET. Check this page when the event gets underway to watch live.

  • Tuesday 31 January 2017 - 10.30am to 12pm
  • Host: Gill Hyslop, BakeryandSnacks editor
  • Location: "Speakers' Corner" in Hall 10.1

How can candy and snack makers manage and avoid product recalls from becoming PR nightmares? Nuts and seeds have been flagged up as the ingredients prompting the most products recalls in the EU in Q2 2016, and hundreds of US snack products were impacted by a recall of sunflower kernels earlier this year. What can manufacturers and their suppliers learn from such incidents: How can they protect themselves and ensure best practice throughout the supply chain. And what should they do if things do go wrong?

Panel

Richard Clarke, director of Ingredient Communications, a global PR agency focussed on communicating the benefits of ingredients for the food and beverage industry.

Stewart Eaton, head of Product Recall, Allianz Global Corporate & Speciality, is qualified to Level 4 in Food Safety in Manufacturing, Level 2 Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points, and a trained media spokesperson.

Professor Josep Tous, product safety director for Stericycle ExpertSOLUTIONS, is also a consultant in consumer affairs and product safety for the United Nations, and a member of the product safety working group of the OECD (Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development).

Simon Weaver, commercial manager for red24’s product risks UK/ROW business unit, a consultancy services that manages product contamination and quality risks effectively.
