Innovation round-up February 2016
Heimatgut coconut chips (Germany)
German snacks supplier Heimatgut walked away with one of the New Product Showcase innovation awards at the ISM show in Cologne this month for its wasabi coconut chips. Set to come to market next month, wasabi is one variant in a new range that includes Original, Salt & Vinegar and Chocolate coconut chips and will retail at around €2 ($2.20) for a 40 g bag. They are produced using a triple-baking process that involves baking and cooling them three times – resulting in a crunchier texture than other coconut chips on the market, claims the Hamburg-based business, which launched in 2012 with cabbage chips.
