This week sees several new spins on widespread trends. The high-protein trend is already popular in both drinks and snacks; now, it has migrated to air.
Meanwhile, celebrity booze has enlisted AI to give consumers products designed by the long-dead composter Johann Sebastian Bach.
Convenience is being combined with tradition through the baguette wrap.
Finally, we see several combinations of sweet and savoury through chocolate egg mayo and the London-style chocolate bar.
Baguette wrap
Convenience has a strong appeal to many consumers across Europe. But they are also interested in tradition, and want to move away from highly processed food.
One French company aims to address both of these needs at once. Du Pain et Du Pain has just released its first product across retailers; the baguette wrap.
Consisting simply of a fresh baguette inside a wrap, the product provides both tradition, in the form of the baguette, and convenience, in the form of the wrap.
“With this product, consumers get the best of both worlds”, says company CEO Louis Martin.
The product is available now in France, the UK, Germany and Spain.

Bach’s booze
The celebrity booze craze has already drawn in many big names, seeing the release of a Dr Dre and Snoop Dogg gin, wine from Gary Barlow and even a whiskey backed by Bob Dylan.
There’s one major musical icon who hasn’t joined in on the fun: eighteenth century composer Johann Sebastian Bach. That is, until now.
The legendary composer, or at least an AI reconstruction of him, has carefully designed Bach’s Booze, a new line of German beers which are now available in bars and restaurants across Europe.
It is surely to be a hit among fans of both of traditional, malty German beers and late Baroque classical music alike.

Chocolate egg mayo
Egg mayo is one of the most popular sandwiches in the UK. And in the treat world, Easter eggs are beloved of many consumers.
With Easter coming up, one brand has decided to combine these two eggy classics. UK confectioner Norville & Sons has put them into a single product: the chocolate egg mayo.
Using the finest speciality chocolate, fully traceable back to the farms on which its beans were grown, the product is also filled with free-range UK-sourced eggs, combined with mayonnaise and seasoned with salt, pepper, and herbs.
“We wanted to combine these two UK favourites, just in time for Easter”, said company CEO and founder Amanda Bridge. “Anyone who’s ever enjoyed an egg mayo sandwich, or an Easter egg, will love this product”.
The product is now available across the UK and Ireland.

High-protein air
The high-protein trend has reached drinks, cereal bars and even desserts. Now, it is venturing into air.
UK start-up Alien Luxury Protein has released a range of high-protein airs. The range includes air from locations around the world, with a number of different flavours including wind, sunshine and even cold.
High-protein air, unlike most other high-protein products, contains zero calories.
“With this product, we hope to provide the consumer with high protein even when they’re breathing,” says the company’s founder and CEO Ada Gregory.
The product is now available in UK retailers.

London-style chocolate
Coming on the heels of the success of Dubai-style chocolate and Tokyo-style chocolate, UK brand Winston’s Wonders have released its own spin on the trend: London-style chocolate.
Their chocolate bar is simple, composed only of baked beans, bacon and eggs coated within luxurious milk chocolate.
However, vegans should not despair, because the company is also releasing an alternative using dark chocolate, plant-based bacon and an egg substitute.
“We wanted to bring the taste of London to the world”, says CEO and founder Adam Lake.
The product is now available in UK newsagents, and will soon expand to France, Germany and the US.
