Miss Macaroon’s 14th birthday milestone

And talking about celebrating, Birmingham-based Miss Macaroon recently celebrated a major training milestone with its MacsMAD and Fairer Futures Programme.
The social enterprise - which reinvests every profit penny into changing young lives, recently recognised 24 graduates at Aston University - taking its total impact to over 250 lives. Founded with just £500 and a local kitchen space, Miss Macaroon has grown to include retail outlets in Birmingham and Resorts World, even baking treats for high-profile clients like Prince Harry.
Aimed at 19 to 35-year-olds who have been unemployed and out of education for more than six months, the course lasts for between eight to 10 weeks, with the option to fit learning around responsibilities that make full time commitments a struggle. The dedicated training programme offers valuable skills in catering, retail and business administration, forging brighter futures for those in need.
“Everything we have done has been thanks to the ‘power’ of the macaroon,” said founder Rosie Ginday, who received an MBE in 2018 for services to the community.
“Our latest graduation means we have now supported more than 250 people to have better lives and these are people who have been in care, are suffering from poor mental health or have had to overcome major challenges. The Miss Macaroon graduates have gone on to achieve some amazing things. We have supported them to discover their aspirations and gain jobs in construction, IT, marketing, catering and retail, with our grads even presenting to MPs, members of the House of Lords and HRH King Charles.”
