Holiday road trips are a cornerstone of the holiday season, but they can quickly turn into a test of patience for any parent. So, how can the journey be just as enjoyable as the destination?

It’s that time of the year again: long road trips, packed highways and that dreaded backseat refrain: ‘Are we there yet?’

For most parents, the joy of seeing their kids’ excitement outweighs the chaos of holiday travel, but it doesn’t make the journey any easier. That’s why Welch’s Fruit Snacks is stepping in to bring some relief.

Enter FruitSide Assistance, a one-day-only roadside support that will hit the highways on 26 November, traditionally the busiest travel day of the year in America.

A parent’s little helper

On that day, FruitSide Assistance vans will roll out along three major routes – I-95 between New York and Boston; the 5 Freeway between Los Angeles and San Francisco; and I-55 between Chicago and St. Louis – to hand out FruitSide Assistance kits.

The kits come loaded with lifesavers for parents and kids, including games, colouring activities, a blanket, phone chargers, a fruit-shaped squishy toy and of course, Welch’s Fruit Snacks: the mess-free, portable snack every parent need in their road trip arsenal.

It’s a clever solution to a problem parents know all too well. According to a Welch’s survey, peak stress on family road trips hits around the three-and-a-half hour mark, though for some, tension flares long before the first rest stop.

The top culprits? Keeping kids entertained, managing tantrums and answering endless bathroom requests. Add tumultuous holiday traffic to the mix and the magic of the season can feel a lot more like survival mode.

“We know holiday travel can test even the most patient parents,” said Jason Levine, chief marketing officer for PIM Brands, makers of Welch’s Fruit Snacks.

“With FruitSide Assistance, we wanted to go beyond offering a trusted snack and create an experience that helps families stay happy during the journey. It’s our way of making the ride as enjoyable as the destination.”

Families can track the FruitSide Assistance van in real time by following Welch’s on social media. It might just turn that next ‘Are we there yet?’ into a sweeter moment.
