The clean label ingredients specialist has reintroduced Stikker, a native, hotswelling, powder-fine starch with a white colour.

It’s free of foreign odours, impurities and admixtures making it ideal for batters and other wet coatings, along with applications like baked goods and pastries.

Every brand evolves over time and Stikker is considered an inventive solution in the growing market of alternative proteins. Global Market Insight data showed this sector exceeded $60.45bn in 2021 and is expected to grow by a further 18.5% between 2022-2028 as consumer considerations heighten around health and ethical concerns.

With more than a century behind its legacy, Kröner-Stärke has succeeded in developing specialist wheat starches that allow food processors to formulate on-trend, clean label products that are rich in texture and taste but contain no chemicals.

Starches like Stikker will be important to facilitate changes in consumer behaviour. The basis for Stikker’s production is selected wheat flours and untreated, natural spring water from the company’s headquarters in Ibbenburen, Germany. It is also certified clean label, designed for good adhesion, crispiness and coating stability.
