Arizona-based SunTreeSnack Foods is extending its footprint across the US with the acquisition of East Coast snack producer The Peanut Roaster/Carolina Nut Co, for an undisclosed amount.

Satori Capital-owned SunTree is a Phoenix-based snack manufacturer that produces branded and private label snack nuts, baking nuts, trail mixes, seeds and dried fruit snacks in novel flavours that senior VP and chief customer officer Josh Stowell touts as ‘healthier options that also scream delicious’.

Meanwhile, Carolina Nut also produces private label and branded hand crafted peanuts and snack nuts. Founded in 1949, The Peanut Roaster founder Larry Monahan Sr was considered a pioneer in the development of water blanched Virginia peanuts. The company still uses the original recipe to create its snacks in a range of unique flavours like Hot Honeys, Buttermilk Ranch and Bourbon BBQ.

The company operates a storefront in Henderson, an ecommerce site and has also developed special packages for school and non-profit fundraisers. It is also the proud sponsor of ThorSport Racing in the NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series.

Carolina Nut Co.’s Henderson facility includes an inhouse research and development laboratory, which will extend the capabilities of both snacks companies to stay ahead of consumer trends.

“Carolina Nut is a perfect complement to SunTree on many levels,” said Jeff Vogel, CEO of SunTree.

“The additional product offerings, expanded geographic footprint, and new packaging and manufacturing capabilities will expand our product lineup for our customers and provide a larger variety of snacking options for category growth.”
