Scottish snack brand Podberry has secured a UK-wide distribution with Officedrop's healthy snack box deliveries to offices.

According to brand owner Bruce Farms, Podberry is the UK’s first freeze-dried snack made with Scottish-grown peas, which includes the 1-of-your-5-a-day with ‘no compromise on flavour’.

Bruce Farms developed the novel snack with the help of freeze-drying experts in New Zealand. Produce is harvested and frozen in under two and a half hours to lock in the highest level of nutrients and flavour in every pea, before undergoing a freeze-drying process.

Pops of natural flavour

Podberry snacks are not fried, making them low in calories and fat. They are also a good source of plant protein and naturally gluten free, available in four vegan-friendly variants, including Sea Salt & Balsamic Vinegar, Sweet Chilli, Ham Hock and Parmesan & Truffle.

“With a growing demand for healthy snacks, which don’t compromise on flavour, convenience or quality, we believe Podberry delivers,” said Geoff Bruce, director of Podberry.

“Partnering with Officedrop, and specifically their Nutribox, made complete sense in helping us spread word of our brand to relevant health conscious consumers.

“Our aim was always to deliver throughout the UK, and potentially beyond, so this is definitely a good step in the right direction for Podberry and hopefully the first of many partnerships nationally, big and small.”

Healthy bottom line

The average person spends 60% of their waking hours at work, but they still need to eat.

A study carried out by health and wellbeing consultancy vielife revealed that employees who are offered healthy treats in the workplace are happier.

In fact, workers who look after their weight are up to 20% more productive than those who binge on the typical offerings from a snack vending machine. They also report fewer absences than those classed as obese.

Officedrop was established in 2007 to help businesses to be more fruitful, today boasting over 5,000 clients across the UK, 100 hundred employees, 60+ vans and selling well in excess of two million bananas annually. Its delivery services also includes fruit, snack boxes, tea and coffee, milk delivery and office flowers.

Family-run Bruce Farms employs a sustainable, environmentally-friendly approach to farming, supplying brands like Birds Eye, Ribena and Scotty Brand with produce like potatoes, peas, banks, malting barley and soft fruits. It also produces its own-label brand of soft fruits.

Available in 20g single-serve packs, Podberry snacks are also sold in Morrisons stores across Scotland and online.
