The weather may not be autumnal as yet – or piquing into spring in the southern hemisphere – but that has not stopped bakery and snack producers from announcing their limited-edition seasonal releases.

Falling for you

Hostess has announced the roll-out of its seasonal pumpkin-flavored treats with the tagline ‘We couldn’t wait for Fall to get here, so we’re bringing Fall to you.’

The autumnal Twinkies features the standard golden sponge cake filled with a pumpkin spice cream.

Also reappearing on shelves will be limited-edition Ice Pumpkin Cupcake – topped with the iconic swirl – and Caramel Crunch Donettes.

The company has not announced the release date, but there is  no doubt it will be soon.

Autumnal treat

Nestlé Toll House is bringing out Chocolate Chip Cookies with Leaf Sprinkles in the typical autumnal colors of red, orange and brown.

The brand’s Fall’n Leaves Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough hit store shelves at select US retailers, including Kroger, Walmart, Meijer and Food Lion, from August, for an RRP of $2.99 for a pack of 24 cookies.

Nestlé unveiled its new Edible Cookie Dough concept last month, making it possible for snackers to indulge in raw cookie dough without the ever-present risk of contracting salmonella or E. coli.

Batty about breakfast

Reese’s is bringing back its Halloween-themed cereal for the second year.

Reese’s Peanut Butter Puffs Bats cereal is made with whole grain corn, Reese’s peanut butter and Hershey’s Cocoa.

The bat-themed breakfast cereal from General Mills has no artificial flavors, colors, or high fructose corn syrup, and is vegan.

Reese’s Puffs Bats are only available in the cereal aisle for a limited time, starting in October 2019, for an RRP of $2.50 (standard box) and $3.99 (family-sized).

Gourmet popcorn company Popcornopolis is launching Halloween Popcorn Mini Cones at Sam’s Club locations nationwide.

The Halloween Snack Pack of 12 mini cones includes four of Popcornopolis’ best-selling classic popcorn flavors – Zebra, Caramel Corn, Cheddar Cheese and Kettle Corn – each packaged with its own cartoon design.

Popcornopolis’ products are made from American-grown, non-GMO corn, are certified gluten-free and contain no high fructose corn syrup or added preservatives.

The Snack Pack will be available from September 1 at Sam’s Clubs locations across the US for an RRP of $9.98.

Booooo-gie bites

Funko is taking on Disney villains for Halloween with the release of cereals featuring Ursula the sea witch from The Little Mermaid and Oogie Boogie from Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas.

The cereals consist of similar shapes but in colors related to the character: Ursula’s is purple and Oogie Boogie is green.

Naturally, each box of FunkO’s comes with a Pocket Pop character for collectors to add to their sets.

The Ursula and Oogie Boogie cereals are exclusive available from Spirit Halloween and Spencer’s stores, starting around September 11. However, they can be pre-ordered now on the outlets websites for an RRP of $10.99.
