New York-based Artisanal Brands has acquired New Manny’s to add premium bakery products to its portfolio of handcrafted cheeses.

The producer of the Artisan Premium Cheese line of products will install four state-of-art cheese-aging caves and a retail store at its facility in Upstate New York, from where wholesale and online orders will be shipped.

This will be the first of several regional locations the company plans to set up to defray shipping costs and add branding experiences.

It is also revamping its website to include the new bakery product offerings and step up the functionality to scale its direct-to-consumer business.

Cheese and bakery synergy

“After exploring a multitude of prospects, we are pleased to have found an opportunity that brings synergy to Artisanal’s historical business and its current plans. Incredible quality is the hallmark of the Artisanal brand, and the new bakery products will be on par with this standard,” said Daniel W. Dowe, Artisanal’s executive chairman.

“Operationally, one facility to house both cheese aging and the bakery facility is ideal. Combined with a team of highly experienced people who are enthused to serve in administrative, financial and operating roles, that is the real value for shareholders and Artisanal's future.”

Next year, Artisanal plans to open a flagship location in Manhattan, complete with retail shop and adjacent café.
