PepsiCo India is adding a new production line at its snacks manufacturing facility in West Bengal.

According to a statement, the Doritos maker said it plans to double in snacks business in India by 2022.

The new line will increase the sourcing of potatoes by 50% from the state, while opening a further 300 job opportunities.

PepsiCo first introduced Doritos in India through imports to test the market, then started producing the brand from its manufacturing facility in Kolkata in 2017.

“Nachos is the fastest growing category in the Indian salty snacks segment and market size is pegged at Rs 200 crore ($28m) and Doritos is well poised to address this robust demand,” said Jagrut Kotecha, VP of PepsiCo’s snacks category, at the time.

The Kolkata plant is the company’s largest of 19 facilities in the country.
