The expansion comes on the heels of the US recording a 300% growth in the number of Americans adopting a gluten-free diet – now totalling around three million people – according to the Mayo Clinic.
The Toasted Oat offers the only soft, butter-baked granola in the market, which offers a seachange from traditional granola. Beyond snacking, it also can be used as a topping for cobblers, or a replacement ingredient for piecrusts and stuffing.
“Our gluten-free granola is a hit with all consumers because it tastes so good, more like a fresh baked oatmeal cookie than traditional dry granola,” said Erika Boll, CEO of the Ohio-based startup.
