PepsiCo's Walkers is recalling its Thai Sweet Chilli Sensations crisps (potato chips) over fears the snack could trigger reactions in consumers allergic to gluten.

The company said certain packets of the snack does not highlight in bold that it contains wheat.

It is recalling 73g bags – which are price marked as ‘Only £1 RRP’ – as well as 40g packs, bearing best before dates of January 29, 2019 and earlier.

The product is completely safe for those without a wheat intolerance, and no other Walkers products are known to be affected.

Packets with a date of 2 February 2019 or later are not affected.

Customers with gluten intolerance can return the chips for a full refund.
