Ukrainian Walnut LLC (Kyiv) will begin construction of a walnut processing plant at an estimated cost of $20m in the Mohyliv-Podilsky district of Vinnytsia region next year.

The maximum capacity of the plant will be 10,000 tonnes per season, providing a full cycle of processing both nuts and shells for abrasive material.

The nuts will be supplied to customers in the EU, as well as Arab countries.

Ukrainian Walnut, founded in 2015, is a vertically integrated company with a full cycle of cultivation, processing and packaging of walnuts.

Since 2016, it has planted 275,000 walnut trees on 750 hectares and this year expects its first harvest.

It also plans to increase the walnut garden to 750,000 trees across 2,000 hectares by 2020.
