More than 70 rising start-ups entered projects to the SIAL international jury to be presented at the Rising Start-ups area of the Future Lab section at the SIAL food event to be held in October in Paris.

At the event, 40 of those projects and companies will be at SIAL Paris to present their new product, equipment and services prior to launch.

Conceived in partnership with the IDEFI-ECOTROPHELIA network and AgroParisTech, #SIALRISINGSTARTUPS is Europe's first forecasting space dedicated to rising start-ups in the food industry sector.

Selected for their ‘boldness and invention,’ in a partnership with the European university network, SIAL says the start-ups will have maximum visibility at a crucial stage of their existence.

#SIALRISINGSTARTUPS provides the companies with the opportunity to share their experiences with a panel of entrepreneurs, investors, potential clients and the media.

From the 76 submitted projects, from 12 countries, 69 were evaluated by the selection committee.

At the end, 41 finalists – 31 from France and 10 from eight other European countries – were chosen to be present in the Rising Start-ups area.

ECOTROPHELIA aims at promoting entrepreneurship and competitiveness in the European food sector through deploying a network of food excellence and innovation training and organizing the national and European food innovation contest: "Les Trophées Étudiants de l’Innovation Alimentaire" ("Student Trophies for Food Innovation"), an ideas incubator for the food industry.

AgroParisTech is the Paris Institute of Technology for Life, Food and Environmental Sciences, operating under the auspices of the French Ministries for Agriculture and for Higher Education. A stakeholder in higher education and research, the organization addresses feeding people while sustainably managing land; preserving resources; encouraging innovation; and integrating the bioeconomy.
