Snackamolé maker secures major listing with leading UK retailer
Born Tasty introduced its Snackamolé 100g pot variant in June, following the success of its food-to-go Snackamolé Dip & Chip product.
“Our Snackamolé Dip & Chip product have been on the market for just over eight months and we’ve already gained a very loyal following,” said Richard Lakeman, sales and marketing manager at Born Tasty.
“This new deal with Co-op marks an exciting step forward for us as we continue to grow the brand, expand our product range and enter new categories.”
“Sales of the Snackamolé Dip & Chip are performing well and we expect this newest addition to be a big hit with our customers,” added Henry Guest, Co-op buyer.
Vegan-friendly, gluten and dairy-free
Snackamolé dips are suitable for vegans, as well as people following gluten-free and dairy-free diets, and come in two flavours: Chunky Avocado and Mexican Guacamole.
The dips are produced in Mexico using a non-thermal, Hyperbaric Pressure Processing method (HPP), which is a cold pasteurisation technique that subjects the nutrient-rich fruit to water-transmitted pressure, equivalent to subjecting it to an ocean depth of 37 miles.
HPP applies 5,000 to 6,000 bars of pressure (72,519 to 87,023 pounds per square inch) to the avocado for between two and five minutes at temperatures of 3°C and 7°C (37.4°F and 44.6°F)
This process eliminates microorganisms and the enzymes that cause avocadoes to go brown, which means they retain the flavor and its nutrients. It also extends the shelf life and the dips have an unopened shelf life of 35 days.
Snackamolé Chunky Avocado in 100g pots will hit Co-op shelves mid-September at a RRP of £1.85 ($2.38).
