Aseptia has scooped a gold award in the food processing and preparation category at the Edison Awards held last night (23 April).

The firm develops technologies for microwave-assisted aseptic processing, monitoring and validation to produce shelf stable foods, requiring no preservatives or refrigeration.

Aseptia’s methods were developed at North Carolina State University​.

The company recently said it was ready to move its work from the subsidiary facility of Wright Foods in Troy, North Carolina to interested companies.

The Edison Awards honor excellence in new product and service development, marketing and human-centered design.

Hiperbaric claimed bronze prize in the same category for its high pressure processing (HPP) equipment​.

In the consumer goods, food packaging and beverages awards, WikiPearl by WikiFoods took gold.

PacXpert from the Dow Chemical Company​ shared silver with SqueezyStraw from The Barton Group.

In the research and education section, 3M Food Safety was awarded bronze for its Petrifilm Rapid Yeast and Mold count plate​.
