Snack showcase

PACK EXPO International 2014 (produced by PMMI: The Association for Packaging and Processing Technologies) is scheduled November 2-5 in Chicago. The event is designed to enable snack makers, baking companies, and other food manufacturers to connect with machinery, materials, and services providers to further their businesses.

Today’s baking and snack manufacturers have many opportunities as consumer demand in this segment continues to grow,” Charles D. Yuska, president and CEO of PMMI, told FoodProductionDaily. “PACK EXPO will equip baking and snack brands with the tools and insights they need to successfully meet that demand and gain a competitive edge.”

The show, which is owned and produced by PMMI, The Association for Packaging and Processing Technologies, will match up baking and snack professionals with products from more than 1,800 exhibitors. Products include shelf-life-extending materials and containers, packages that further sustainability goals, automation technology, and other items.

Market focus

The event content for snack makers includes specialized programming, and areas of the show floor with focused content. The Biscuit and Cracker Manufacturers’ Association is behind the Baking-Snack Break lounge, created for networking with suppliers, peers, and market experts.

PACK EXPO also offers technical and branding resources for snack purveyors and other food professionals. The Processing Zone, a dedicated area on the exhibit hall, will tackle processing and packaging technology; the Brand Zone will showcase material, container, and design applications to enhance shelf appeal; and the Food Safety Summit Resource Center, sponsored by the Food Safety Summit, will match up snack professionals with experts on an array of food safety concerns.
