The launch of Cranswick Gourmet Pastry Company created 130 jobs in March this year.
Cranswick will supply beef, chicken and pork to Yorkshire Baker to make sausage rolls, pasties, quiches, pies and tarts for Marks & Spencer own-label, as well as its own brand products.
Increasing product supply
Rollo Thompson, managing director, Continental Fine Foods/Yorkshire Baker said it was planning to up-scale production on its own branded products to increase supply to more delis and shops.
He added the company chose Rose Forgrove Flow Wrappers due to its experience within the bakery industry, and HayssenSandiacre’s reputation for producing packaging machines.
“The machines are extremely well built and lend themselves well to our working environment,” said Thompson.
“We didn’t want to stop production, so it was great that HayssenSandiacre offered us the opportunity to loan two machines for the duration of the new machine build.”
Bag and fill packaging systems
HayssenSandiacre manufactures packaging systems that fill and bag thousands of food products including candy, coffee, frozen food, cheese, produce, snacks and bakery.
Sabrina Palmeri, sales and marketing administrator, HayssenSandiacre, told FoodProductionDaily this is the first time Cranswick installed the machinery for this industry segment.
“It is a new business unit, so the company didn’t have any other flow wrappers, prior to ours,” she said.
The Merlin HSE Flow Wrapper is flexible and comes with a variety of options, such as stainless steel construction, pin type perforator, infeed extensions and gusseting units.
It’s headquarters are based in the US, with factories in Greenville/Spartanburg, South Carolina as well as Nottingham, England.
