Food and industrial starch supplier Penford Food Ingredients has launched its newest potato-based soluble fiber, PenFibe RO, for calorie reduction, fiber enrichment and partial sugar replacement.

The non-GMO, non-allergenic, Kosher and Halal product contains a minimum of 56% dietary fiber, and can be used in calorie reduction by partially replacing higher caloric ingredients such as flour, sugar, maltodextrin and corn syrup. Among its other usage benefits, PenFibe RO has a bland taste, is heat- and pH-stable, has excellent cold and freeze/thaw stability, and is resistant to enzymatic breakdown.

Recommended applications include baked products, breakfast and nutrition bars, confectionary, dairy, frozen desserts, snacks, sports nutrition products, supplements, toppings and syrups.

Centennial, CO-based Penford also offers bakery technologies such as customized gluten-free blends, starches and finished mixes, egg replacement systems, hot/cold viscosifiers, fat reducers and mimetics for bakery fillings and expansion starches for snack products.
