The tribute is reminiscent of Warhol’s ‘32 Campbell’s Soup Cans’, which catapulted him to stardom in 1962 after claiming he had the soup for lunch every day for 20 years.
Campbell’s did not commission Warhol to paint its cans but it has since established the Andy Warhol Scholarship Fund with New York Art Academy in his honour.
Michael Hermann, director of licensing, Andy Warhol Foundation, which has endorsed the tribute can, said it was delighted to celebrate the legacy of these two icons by bringing Warhol’s art back to the Campbell’s soup cans that provided him with inspiration.
The four Andy-Warhol inspired labels will be launched in the UK on September 9 and have been designed in colours including white and yellow, and pink and teal.
It will be sold across supermarket chains Tesco, Sainsbury’s and Waitrose.
Campbell's Soup in Australia launched a tribute to the artist in June this year with Woolworths supermarket. They were first launched in Target stores in the US last September to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the paintings.
Warhol followed up the initial painting in 1962 with variations on the same theme, including crushed cans, and cans with broken lids.

The tribute follows on from a launch of Perrier Sparkling Natural Mineral Water, another collaboration with The Andy Warhol Foundation, on what would have been the pop artist’s 85th birthday on August 6.
