The Atlanta-based packaging manufacturer has purchased three L42 4-cavity and one L32 3-cavity PET stretch-blow machines. The equipment will be put into action at two different facilities.

PET popularity

Amsler Equipment representative Heidi Amsler told FoodProductionDaily.com that PET is gaining popularity with food firms and packaging partners for myriad reasons.

More and more consumers look for the transparency and safety of PET versus polyolefin or glass container,” she said. "Plus, light-weighting is reducing the recycle load, and the cost of PET containers and new container designs have helped with creative marketing.”

Rob Johnson, general manager of CCC’s Consumer Business unit said Amsler Equipment worked closely to ensure the equipment acquisition suited their current needs and future objectives.

[Amsler Equipment] worked closely with CCC’s engineering group to deliver technology that fit the needs of our growing PET platform and our Commercial Services group, which is committed to providing CCC’s customers with the fastest possible speed to market in the packaging industry,” he said.

Equipment in action

Amsler said CCC representatives signed off on the acquisition after observing the equipment in operation, and seeing the equipment could pull off production of complex bottles and other products. Other factors include machinery productivity, efficiency and flexibility.

The new all-electric Amsler linear L32 and L42 machines are convertible because the number of cavities is adjustable. The L42 machines can be run in four-cavity mode to make bottles up to 2 L or in two-cavity mode for larger bottles up to 5 L.

The L32 machine can be run in 3-cavity mode to make bottles up to 2 L, two-cavity mode for bottles up to 3 L and single-cavity mode for bottles up to 5 L.

The Amsler machines are all-electric with servo -actuated stretch rods, clamp, and preform in-feed to the molds. CCC had their units fitted with Siemens user interfaces and controls systems.
