Negri Bossi gets into robotic action for K 2013

Among technology at the show is the Bi-Power VH 1000, the smallest of the two-platen range which has, over the years, allowed Sacmi to become a partner in the large-scale packaging industry.

There will be a 650 ton version of the evergreen Vector series with integrated robot, set up with a mold for Polycarbonate headlight reflector dishes and a Canbio 210 with a mold for automotive heat shield caps in PA66 +25% GF, with integrated Sytrama robot.

Negri Bossi has been offering integrated automation machinery since its acquisition of Italia robot supplier Sytrama in 2011.

Sytrama makes three-axis and linear-axis robots, side-entry robots, and linear motors for use on presses from 50 to 6000 metric tons. It also has experience in offering full automation cells for PET preform production, CD manufacturing, and in-mold labeling.

Speaking at the last K show in 2010, Silvio Tavecchia, MD, Negri Bossi, said the company had made a major strategy change from being a manufacturer to a solutions provider.

He added in previous years it was impossible for the firm to continue to sell standard machinery so it underwent a 100% transformation.

Customized machines​

“It means we now have a standard module of a machine which can be customized according to a client’s requests and these can be tailor-made according to the market, providing a mold, assembly, robot and so on​,” said Tavecchia.

He added in the next five to 10 years the industry will become more competitive with the need to develop faster machinery that is also economical.

With this in mind, the company will showcase its 160-500 ton range with Smart Flex clamping units, optimized structural rigidity and V-rails to guide the mobile platen, creating an Oil-Free molding zone.

There will also be a display of Sytrama’s Cartesian S-series manipulators and a full electric version of the Vesta 300, which in addition to the Smart Flex clamping unit, includes an actuator with an ultra-rapid ball bearing screw to meet the needs of the packaging industries, which require short cycle times.

K fair will be held in Düsseldorf, Germany, from October 16-23.
