A market report predicts the canned food market will exceed $79 billion USD in 2014.
A recent market study indicates that worldwide sales of canned food products will reach nearly $80 billion USD (approximately €60 billion) by 2014.

According to the study "Canned Food: A Global Market Overview," available from market intelligence firm Report Buyer, the figure is an increase over 2013 sales figures, estimated at approximately $77 billion USD (about €58 billion). Further, the company projects canned food sales to approach $100 billion USD (€76 billion) by 2020.

The study authors indicate that consumers frequently hold conflicting opinions of cans as a food packaging format. For example, shoppers value the convenience offered by canned foods, but they do not perceive health or nutritional advantages.

The report on canned food analyzes sales around the world and in regional markets. Segments examined include cooking sauces, desserts, fish/seafood, fruits, meat, pasta/noodles, soups and vegetables. The report is available for preview and download on the Report Buyer website, www.reportbuyer.com
