Fire reported at Metsä mill in Germany

Metsä Board has confirmed that a fire has broken out today at one of its mills in Germany.

The Gohrsmühle mill produces Chromolux speciality papers and paperboards and the incident occurred at the reel warehouse of the site.

Metsä said according to current information there is no danger of the fire spreading to a wider area and there are no injuries.

“The sheeting operations at the site will be stopped for some time due to the fire and customers will be informed about the possible impacts on the deliveries in due course,”​ said the firm.

It said it does not expect the fire to have any material impact on Metsä Board’s total folding boxboard deliveries nor any material result impact for Metsä Board.

The site has 400 employees and produces 50,000 tonnes per annum of specialitiy paper and paperboard.
