Demand for clean material streams driving innovation - Faerch Plast

Jesper Emil Jensen, senior manager of marketing, products and technical sales at Faerch Plast, described the firm’s latest products to FoodProductionDaily.com at Emballage 2012 in Paris.

Jensen highlighted the Mapet II solution and the important trend of creating the possibilities for the recycling of plastic.

The new solution, designed for packaging meat and poultry, is produced from one substrate called MAPET (MONO amorphous polyethylene terephthalate).

Faerch Plast has also worked with Waste & Resources Action Programme (WRAP) in the UK to develop a black crystalline polyethylene (CPET) tray which can be recycled.

He added the firm had to find an alternative to using carbon black as a pigment in their black CPET trays because the near infrared scanners struggled to pick it up and sort it in recycling facilities.
