Baker’s Pride has upped donut capacity and expanded its portfolio as production commences at a new facility in Iowa.

The US commercial bakery manufacturer, specialized in donuts and sliced bread, invested in a 65,000 square foot donut facility in its Mt. Pleasant Street Bakery. Production commenced yesterday, five months after expanded plans were announced.

The new facility ups capacity and also expands the firm’s current donut portfolio to include filled and yeast raised donuts.

Technology investments

“The state-of-the-art facility uses innovative, modern baking technology to produce mass quantities of donuts with consistent quality and product integrity while creating cost efficiencies for customers of Baker’s Pride,” the firm said.

The production line includes blast freezer capabilities to enable the donuts to be packaged frozen and a holding freezer to lock in freshness at minus ten degrees, it said.

“Our ability to utilize the latest technology allows us to produce the highest quality donut products for our customers,” Rob Brookhart, president of Baker’s Pride Inc. said.

“The completion of this innovative, modern facility brings excitement and continued focus on our strong commitment to the quality and taste of our products,” Brookhart said.

Donut dedication

Baker’s Pride produces a broad portfolio of ready-to-finish and ready-to-sell bulk and pre-packaged donuts for in-store bakeries, C-stores and the food service.

All donut products contain zero grams Trans Fat and formats include yeast raised rings, cake donuts and minis. Flavors include powdered and cinnamon and fillings include Bavarian cream and raspberry. The range is available in a variety of packaging including cups, tubs, clamshells and trays.
