Univar seals Tate & Lyle Sugars distribution deal
Chemical distributor Univar has entered into an agreement with Tate & Lyle Sugars to distribute its range of sugar-based sweeteners and texture modifiers across Europe, the company has said.

Tate & Lyle Sugars is a subsidiary of Domino Foods, and its sweetening and texture modification ingredients have applications in confectionery, bakery, sauces, soups and ready meals. They include Domino’s ranges of granular and powdered Qwik-Flo co-crystallised molasses and Dri-Flo molasses, its granular and powdered Qwik-Flo co-crystallised honey and Dri-Flo HonyBuds, as well as its sugar-based flavour and texture modifier Super Envision.

The molasses ingredients are used as natural sweeteners to replace refined sugar and non-nutritive syrups; its honey products are used for flavour, enhanced shelf-life and moisture retention; and its flavour and texture modifiers add sweetness while enhancing texture, structure and dispersion.

Univar’s vice president supplier management EMEA, Nicolas Lehmann said in a statement: “These ingredients are versatile and effective and give our European customers a range of powerful new recipe-formulation capabilities. Manufacturers are always on the lookout for new multi-functional ingredients that are easy to use and we are confident that Domino’s products will be well received.”

Robert Brown, of Tate & Lyle Sugars’ specialty sales division, said: “There are a lot of exciting opportunities in the European food market right now as manufacturers are using the latest ingredient innovations to develop some really interesting recipes. Univar has an extensive geographical reach as well as a deep technical understanding of our business and our customer base so they are perfectly placed to help grow our business by bringing our products to the right people.”
