Compostable ‘breadbox’ plugs freshness and green concerns
VerDeSoft GmbH has designed the ‘breadbox’ – a pack made from board and made to fit an individual quarter portion of a loaf of bread.
The pack has been developed using Innovia Films’ compostable, cellulose-based material NatureFlex. Derived from wood, this material is therefore compostable within weeks.
Thomas Reissig, founder of VerDeSoft GmbH said: “End-users are increasingly looking for packaging which not only looks good, but offers green credentials in addition to protecting the product inside. This pack ticks all of these boxes and more.”
Fresh innovation
Innovia films said: “It also offers advantages for packing and converting such as inherent dead fold and anti-static properties, high gloss and transparency, resistance to grease and oil, good barrier to gases, aromas and mineral oils and a wide heat-seal range.”
Holger Eschenburg, sales manager at Innovia Films said the company is “delighted” to have supplied material for the packaging prototype.
“This is another great example of designers coming up with innovative packaging solutions that cater for individual portions and keep products fresher for longer,” Eshchenburg said.
VerDeSoft, sister company to VerDeTech, is a packaging design company that works with several partners on innovative packaging solutions.
