Crown Food Europe has capped previous innovations with the launch of its Smart Capper machine, which provides high quality sealing for glass jars and bottles.

One of the advantages of the machine over previous equipment, the company said, was its adjustable running speeds. This made it ideally suited to small and medium-sized manufacturers that needed to manage fluctuations in their production volumes.

The streamlined, functional design meant the Smart Capper needed minimal maintenance, reducing downtime.

Developed in Crown’s Centre of Excellence in Aprilia, Italy, the machine provides a quick and easy manual cap and glass size changeovers, the company said.

Optimised efficiency

The machine can run at speeds of up to 150 caps a minute and can be operated at a speed adapted to the rest of the production line for optimised efficiency, said Crown Food Europe.

Another feature of the device was its hygiene friendly design, the firm added.

It is built from stainless steel with an easily accessible interior for optimum cleaning in compliance with the latest hygiene standards. In addition, the machine is designed to comply with EU directive 2006/42/CE on machine safety.

“A wide range of companies in Europe, both big and small, rely on our capping solutions to ensure their products reach consumers in perfect quality,” said Ana Neale, marketing director, Crown Food Europe.

Variable speeds

“We have designed the Smart Capper with small- and medium-sized manufacturers in mind, ensuring that it provides the performance and variable speeds that they require.”

The new Smart Capper is the latest edition to Crown Food Europe’s capping portfolio for food and beverage packing, which includes the High-Speed Capper, the Global Capper and the EuroCapper.

The equipment will be showcased at the forthcoming Fachpack packaging exhibition in Nuremberg, Germany, which runs from September 25-27.

Crown Holdings, which has its headquarters in Philadelphia in the US, is a specialist in systems for food and beverage packaging, aerosol packaging, metal closures and other speciality packaging. It also has bases in Singapore and Switzerland.
