J & J Snack Foods snaps up small ‘prestigious’ pretzel firm

Kim & Scott’s Gourmet Pretzels is a small premium firm manufacturing all-natural, handmade soft pretzels. The products are all free from trans fats, preservatives and hydrogenated oils with a wide flavour portfolio, including grilled cheese and stuffed pizza. The pretzels are stocked across the US retail sector and can also be found on shelves in Australia and Canada, the firm also has a café in Lincoln Park, Chicago. J&J snapped the firm’s assets for an undisclosed sum and this latest buy will add to its extensive snack and beverage portfolio that includes pretzels, frozen beverages, churros, cookies and cakes across the US and international markets. Gerald B. Shreiber, J & J’s president and CEO, said the company is “delighted to acquire this prestigious brand and look forward to growing it further.” Scott Holstein, founder of Kim & Scott’s Gourmet Pretzels, said “for the past 16 years, we have put our heart and soul into this small business… We sought out this opportunity from J & J to ensure bigger and better for our brand, our company and our family.” Holstein will remain with the company as senior vice president.

US snack corporation, J&J Snack Foods, has bulked up its portfolio with its latest acquisition of a small Chicago-based pretzel firm.
