SYSPRO, a developer of enterprise resource planning (ERP) software for on-premise and cloud-based utilization added that it enables manufacturers and distributors to comply with the Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) Food Safety Modernization Act.
SYSPRO say that the system meets all provisions of the FDA Food Safety Act criteria including, being able to track lot controls and shelf life dates of all products in both received and outgoing shipments.
The software is available worldwide and in a number of different languages.
Stanley Goodrich, PR manager at SYSPRO, explained to FoodProductionDaily.com if a recall occurs, then the system can trace the ingredients to the product and the customers who received it.
The system also meets other FDA Food Safety Act guidelines such as determining if a product is beyond the desired threshold for shelf life when inventory is received or shipped and ensuring if it is beyond the shelf life threshold, it is not shipped.
Goodrich added that the system provides up to the minute data on the overall platform.
"The ERP controls all aspects, including accounting, manufacturing and distribution so it is all in one place.
"It ties all the functionalities together to enable the manufacturer to make the important decisions."
Goodrich estimated 99% of food manufacturers and distributors used ERP software product on their systems.
Meet and forecast demand
He added: “It can analyze and forecast production levels to meet future anticipated demand and make sure [the manufacturers] have the necessary inventory to meet orders.
“We provide the implementation system and full training to ensure the software meets the need of each individual.”
