Irish recall after rubber pieces feared in bread loaves - FSAI

A batch of sliced bread is being recalled from stores in Ireland due to the possible presence of small pieces of rubber in the product.

Ballymore Crust Fresh White Sliced Bread is being recalled from by Aldi as a precautionary measure, the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) has announced.

An Aldi recall press notice, posted in Irish national newspapers, said that the retailer ordered the recall after it came to its “attention that a limited number of loaves may have been contaminated with small pieces of rubber.”

An alert notification for the immediate recall of 800g packs of the bread with product code 40853 and the best before date 14.12.11 was published on the FSAI website.

“We are currently investigating the matter however the product is produced in a top-class facility that conforms to the highest international standards. This is a precautionary measure in the interests of absolute customer safety,”​ an Aldi spokesperson told FoodQualityNews.com.
