Aluminium body appoints new chairman
The president of the Novelis Group took up the honorary role on 1 January, 2011. He succeeds Alcoa's Marcos Ramos.
EAA Secretary General Patrick de Schrynmakers hailed the appointment as the beginning of a new chapter for the industry body as it would be the first time its leader had come from a downstream and recycling company.
“We are fully confident that in these challenging times - this will be beneficial to the association", he added.
Nardocci was appointed as president, Novelis Europe in June 2009. He oversees 13 manufacturing facilities across Europe which produce rolled aluminium for markets including packaging, automotive, building, transportation and printing. The Brazilian previously worked for the company as its South American head.
"The EAA successfully provides a single voice for a sector that is diverse, yet united in its focus on providing competitive and intelligent solutions for a sustainable future", said Nardocci.
