The second instaltment of the Baking Industry Exhibition at the NEC in Birmingham had a record number of attendees and proved to be particularly effective for small to medium businesses, with huge interest recorded at the craft baker stands, claimed the industry trade show's organisers.

The team behind the event said that exhibitors reported good results in terms of the number and quality of leads generated.

Visitors, said the organisers, also said the bakery show was well served by its co-location with seven other food industry events as it allowed insight into a range of other sectors.

The Future Baker of the Year Competition gave some interesting ‘theatre’ to the show, stated Dominique Homo, founder of L’Ecole du Pain: “It focused a lot of attention and action on the next generation of bakers, who are, after all, its future."

Ad, according to Graham Duckworth, product development manager at British Bakeries, the show was particuarly suite to the British baking industry and "is good for everyone from craft to plant. I can source new ingredients, seek out innovative trends and find new ideas that I can implement in the business.”
