A new depositor series for bakery producers, designed to work over conveyors, offers increased precision in speed adjustment, claims its Canadian based developer.

Unifiller, which has a wide network of global distributors, said the new I-Series Pro-1000i depositor is a replacement of its previous model, the UNI-1000, and Stewart Macpherson, VP of sales and marketing for the firm, told BakeryandSnacks.com that this version includes features not found on any other competitor’s depositors.

He said that the I Series machines are fitted with a large easy to turn speed dial allowing the operator to instantly select the deposit speed from 0 – 100 per cent in less than one turn, thus enabling calibration of the deposit speed to a known position.

Macpherson explained that the company recognized the challenges associated with using single piston machines that are air operated and which have a deposit speed traditionally set by turning a knurled knob. This method results in the desired speed of deposit being set by eye.

“The deposit speed is important and critical such as when spreading a measured amount over a moving target, and this is when the operator needs to know what the deposit speed is set to. There was no known speed control in existence that allowed the operator to dial in a speed setting so our engineers invented one,” he explained.

And the depositor through its innovative valve block design, continued the sales and marketing VP, ensures increased accuracy and speeds of over 140 deposits per minute.

According to Macpherson, the return on investment on the I-Series Pro-1000i varies depending on a baker’s output, but he estimates it to be around four to six months based on the increased production speeds and labour savings the equipment allows.

“In addition to this, the user will see increased portion control and ingredient cost savings further contribute to the bottom line,” he claims.

He said that the I-Series Pro-1000i production depositor is designed to be integrated into existing bakery production lines or conveyors and that the many available accessories, production bridges and product photo sensors make the I-Series machines very versatile and adaptable.

Moreover, claims Macpherson, the depositor can be quickly and easily disassembled for cleaning and product change-over, with all product contact parts on the I-Series Pro-1000i machines designed to be removed for sanitation in less than 30 seconds.

The company said its machines are available and serviced throughout the world with Unifiller dealers in over 70 countries.
