An affordable checkweight designed specifically for smaller packaging lines for wet environments that enhances return on investment (ROI) has been developed, said its manufacturers.

Adaptable and compact

Mettler-Toledo Hi-Speed has said its new A300 valued-price unit has been devised for mild to moderate washdown applications where space is at a premium. The stainless steel system features an open design that allows easy cleaning and sanitising for food processing applications in wet environments. It can accommodate a variety of packages in a compact 30 inches of line space and delivers a rate of up to 165 units per minute, said the company.

The A300’s “no tools” belt removal minimizes maintenance and a hermetically sealed load cell facilitates “superior long-term accuracy and weighing performance for maximum profits”, a Mettler-Toledo spokesman told FoodProductionDaily.com.

The machine also comes equipped with an effective and easy to use operating system. A colour, touch screen dashboard provides menu-driven access to basic checkweight functions and simple menus offer fast access to important checkweigher set up screens and production information. Browser-like navigation gives users swift access to important controls ad read outs, while allowing them to drill down into line performance measurements and statistics, said the firm.

Return on investment

We created the A300 to make checkweighing affordable for all kinds of businesses. Contract seasonal packers will especially like the simple operation, maintenance friendly design and low cost of ownership,” said Mark Feher, Business Development Manager of Mettler-Toledo Hi-Speed. “Return on investment is critically important to smaller companies. Checkweighing delivers a huge benefit by making sure that packages weigh what they should, potentially saving thousands of dollars annually.”

The company announced it would be showcasing the A300 at Pack Expo in Las Vegas later in the year.
