BG Pack has modified its line of packaging equipment to incorporate
sealing and pocket bagging technology such as modified atmosphere
packaging (MAP) suitable for a range of fresh bakery products.

The company, a subsidiary of Italy-based PFM packaging group, has made adjustments to its vertical wrapping machine, Vetta, broadening its application and allowing bakers to hermetically seal products in a more secure format.

By incorporating the Doy Style application, the Vetta is now capable of using recloseable stand-up bags with a sealed base and upper zip to close the top of the bag.

In addition, side seals will allow the product to be printed on all sides - opening up greater marketing opportunities for manufacturers.

Consumers will also be able to open and close the bag for sporadic consumption without the product losing freshness due to an adhesive band and removable flap which can be chosen as an alternative to the zip.

PFM said: "Seals are hermetic and packs are aesthetically perfect. It is a new, practical, economic and handy pack that is sure to be highly appreciated by the public."

The Vetta wrapper is a form fill seal machine which can process up to 20 different bag styles using clear or printed film.

It consists of a brushless motor, industrial PC services and a teleassistance service which enables a remote check of all functions.

The Vetta, complete with upgrades, will be on show at the Emballage trade fair held in Paris, from November 20 - 23.
