UK-based RPC Bramlage-Wiko has set up shop in small town
Pennsylvania, providing US processors with another source of rigid
plastic packaging for their products.

RPC Bramlage-Wiko new $10m plant in Morgantown was built to move closer to Kraft Foods, which itsupplies with the single serving packaging used for its Tassimo home-brewed coffee system. Thesingle serve coffee used for the system comes packaged in what are called T-Discs, which also actsas a brewing device.

RPC Bramlage previously supplied Kraft with T-Discs made in Europe. The T-Disc brewing device was launched in North America inSeptember.

"Tassimo is a major project for RPC, and the Morgantown facility will ensure that the required numbers of T-Discs can be manufactured and supplied to Kraft locally, rather than shipped from Europe,"said Alfons Böckmann, director of RPC Bramlage-Wiko.

RPC's plant in Morgantown is a custom-renovated 65,000 sq ft facility. It is one hour west of Philadelphia, close to the filling plants used for the Tassimo system.

RPC said it also built to plant to be able to supply other customers in the US with packagingand estimates that the site will employabout one hundred people within three years. Ron Marsh, RPC's chief executive said the site has the potential for future expansion.

"Although Tassimo is the driving force behind the investment, the site has been equipped with a view towards strengthening our presence in North America for customers operating across a range of marketsectors," he said. "This will give RPC the potential to further enhance our service in the region."
