Ossid unveils updated weighing technology
order to deliver higher production speeds.
Utilising powerful Windows-based programming, the WPL-1500x is a fully automatic continuous motion weigh/price/labeler with a precision digital load cell. The system is available with a variety of printing options including bottom label applicators.
"We've streamlined various technologies and components to create what we believe to be a most efficient, durable manufacturing machine," said Bud Lane, Ossid president.
The WPL-1500x's side guide system maintains precise and consistent control of product as it moves continuously through the weigh and labeling stations. The WPL-1500x has a 15 lb weighing capacity standard (35 lbs optional), and is capable of printing up to 16 inches/second (400 mm/sec), and 150 packages per minute.
At the weigh station, data is captured and managed using a PC with Pentium technology, as well as wired and wireless Ethernet. A 15" colour touch screen with intuitive user interface allows operators to quickly monitor the system.
This technology ensures that throughput can be monitored in real time, both by local supervisors and at operations headquarters.
"Every bit of data is stored for every package," said Joe Grove, director of engineering at Ossid. "Recalls are made simpler and readouts or reports are easy to create. Production managers can even send or receive totals/reports via email or PDA."
Strong and/or weak areas of the line can be quickly and easily identified and adjusted, and production levels can be controlled. Additionally, Ethernet connectivity allows Ossid to troubleshoot, upgrade software, monitor and run the system from any location in the world that has Ethernet access.
The compliant side guide system moves product toward and through the labelling station. The printer automatically adjusts to the proper height and angle, and the physical contact finger tamp system's universal design assures that labeling is accurate.
All changeovers are automatic - no operator adjustments are needed, thus eliminating downtime. This versatile design enables many different kinds of products to be run on the same machine. The WPL-1500x is capable of printing 21 different bar code symbologies (including 2-D). Direct thermal and thermal transfer printing options are available.
